Title: Getting at the historical truth

Review: In most traditional history courses that American students are exposed to, the contributions and roles of women and minorities are often overlooked, or at best, only given cursory mention. Dominique Atkinson’s groundbreaking book, The Women Who Changed the Course of History, changes that in a fundamental way.
From Eve, the so-called Mother of Mankind, to 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Atkinson explores the pivotal role a few remarkable women played, and continue to play, in the world’s affairs.
From Eve’s ‘fall from grace,’ she discusses the origins of the misogynistic male mindset regarding women and their role in society from its beginnings. Eve, who was tempted by the serpent to taste the fruit from the ‘tree of knowledge,’ is characterized as the reason for humanities suffering and the expulsion from Eden. My only complaint about this offering is that the author failed to mention that since Eve was the first to acquire ‘knowledge,’ women had a head start on men in the intelligence department, a fact that is reinforced by the different reactions of Eve and her mate, Adam, to their dilemma. Even as written, however, it goes a long way to making sense of the male reactions to women who broke out of the expected mold over the centuries.
Atkinson offers detailed portraits of several women who, throughout our history, have refused to allow themselves to be pigeon-holed and treated as ‘less than fully human.’ Women like Cleopatra, Marie Curie, Benazir Bhutto, and Hillary Clinton, who, rather than allowing themselves to be defined by men, defined themselves, and in so doing, initiated changes that reverberate long after they’ve gone from the scene.
For anyone who wants an alternative look at the history we’ve been spoon-fed most of our lives, I can think of no better book to begin the process.

Title: Interesting Book

Review: I enjoyed this. Learning about some of these women, and their back stories, was interesting reading. I picked this for our book club and I am glad I did. It allowed for interesting discussions. This is a pretty quick read.

Title: 2 stars for effort

Review: The book is superficial at best. But it is often scatter brained and riddled with typos that do cause confusion. There are numbers left out of years, past tense used randomly, names mixed up such as Queen Victoria’s eldest sons name being wrong. I’m really trying to get through it. But it almost feels like what’s the point if it’s only scratching the bare surface. You can find more information on a Wikipedia page.

Review: Women never seem to get enough recognition. It is obvious that men have been the dominate writers of the history books. Considering the heavy gender discrimination women have faced through the ages, I mean let's look at poor Eve, it is refreshing to read this book. Many women made amazing contributions to the world despite culture and society's attempts to put them in the background. In my opinion these accomplishments are even more noteworthy seeing how they were already starting with a disadvantage. Kudos to the author!

Review: I appreciated the author of this book for recognizing the empowerment of women since from the beginning. From the book itself showed the importance of women in our society, not just us but women as well played a significant role. Among those women in the past who change the course of history were Eva, Juana Azurduy, Isabel the Catholic, Marie Curie, Winnie Mandela & Benazir Bhutto. They were all remarkable in their respective era they were born. Their actions transformed the imprint of their countries and the world. Such great information we can get by just reading this book. Reading this give me the chance to appreciate the contribution of women. They really deserved recognition until this present times. Such a nice read, recommend it to everyone.

Title: A very important book

Review: This book is a very informative book, I find it very educative. It contains names of some women I know about (but do not know their story) and names of women I have never heard about. They had really interesting stories and one can learn a lot from them. This book contains a brief but yet, important history of these women that affected the world in ways even they never imagined.
This is a very educative book and I am looking to get the male version of it next, which was introduced in the last pages of the book.

Review: Short informative read.
I liked the women the authorise to include. Many of them I had not heard of. I will probably read more about some of these women. I liked how the author mentioned each woman's controversies and not just all positive aspects of their lives. The book was too short for comprehensive discussions about these women's lives. But, given the length it was still informative.

Review: Great book! Those women mentioned in this book are very inspiring and deserving to be recognized in their own right. They were so brave to opposed those powerful men in their times, especially those era wherein the society were dominated by male and the women were not as important as men.I salute those women.I had a great time reading this book.5 star for it.
